FriendlyCare's Advocacy on Mental Health

FriendlyCare is a social enterprise that is driven to explore partnership routes founded on shared values and mission of providing clients and patients with affordable, quality healthcare services in a friendly, caring and compassionate manner being delivered by professional and competent medical teams, certified and trained service providers and professional support staff.

In partnership with Centre for Mindfulness Studies Toronto, FriendlyCare has launched a whole new program offering for mind and body health and wellness – the Mindfulness-Based Programs (MBPs). This partnership primarily aims to make mental health and wellness affordable and accessible to the low to middle socio-economic class

To maintain its social mission, FriendlyCare is offering MBPs with “Four for a Fee, One for Free” social objective which allocates one MBP workshop for free to the lower SEC market, for every four paid MBPs. This will give the target market the access to the same quality of MBP offerings to the low economic class who otherwise cannot afford to pay.

Mental Health

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Mental health is an integral part of this definition. There is no health without mental health. ” – WHO

Mindfulness Based Programs (MBP)

The new FriendlyCare MWSR program enables the delivery of drug-free, group-based training program that will help participants learn and practice life skills to help manage stress, depression and anxiety for coping and resiliency. It is not a clinical intervention, not a motivational or personality development training, and not a counseling session. FriendlyCare’s Mindfulness-Based Programs are developed with intensive training of facilitators by Centre for Mindfulness Studies Toronto.

FriendlyCare has incorporated Mindfulness-Based Programs in its current list of health and wellness program packages being offered to various companies, organizations, government agencies, communities, social groups and general public. Currently, there are hundreds of participants being served by FriendlyCare with the Mindfulness-Based Programs.

FriendlyCare’s MBPs include Mindfulness-Based Wellness for Stress Reduction (MWSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and coming soon is Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).

In a nutshell, Mindfulness-Based Wellness for Stress Reduction (MWSR) is a mind and body wellness program designed for those who are prone to occupational stress and anxiety. It follows a four-week group-based mindfulness session with three (3) hour per session. It is designed for beginners with no prior experience with mindfulness meditation but can also be suitable for those with some meditation experience who want to refine their skills.

MBCT- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an evidence-based group therapy for preventing depressive relapse and treating mood disorders. It reduces depression, anxiety and stress. It follows an eight-week of one-and-a-half hour group therapy curriculum that combines the tools of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) with the practice of mindfulness meditation.
